A lot of new subscribers have signed up with Matriarchy Report in the past several weeks: Welcome! Becoming a paid subscriber helps us keep this work going. Your paid subscription supports independent women’s journalism and compensates for some of the time and energy (and childcare costs) that go into it every week. Thank you for being here!
We published our interview with the writer Sarah W. Jaffe at the end of August, and the comments from readers ranged from, “Matriarchy Report is rad today” to “Ready to roll. Let’s f s--t up.”
Jaffe’s new book asks privileged white parents to re-consider the question of “what’s best” for their children. Instead of thinking in terms of our little, insular, nuclear family units, “what’s best” is what would be good for everyone.
That means rethinking everything from how we pay for childcare, to how we contribute to our school PTA, to how we volunteer in our communities, to how we pass along wealth.
Here’s the full conversation. If you learned something or want to keep the conversation going, please let us know! Leave a comment below, or find us on Instagram.
This was one of my all-time favs. Like, let's make this happen!
