This is powerful. I am so angry about what is happening.... trump voters bear the responsibility for every destructive act of the next administration.... i am afraid it is going to be worse than we can even imagine..... thank you for speaking out for the real silent majority. No trump voters at my table. No appeasement. No consent.

“Being friendly and patiently listening to people justify the reasons they voted for someone to take away your rights will not heal the country.” Black people know this. We been knowing this since 2016. I co-sign this piece in its entirety. Thanks for writing!

Fantastic piece! It really helps me live in the reality of my own feelings about this country’s political situation, and find creative ways to move forward. Thank you so much for this!

“Reality of my own feelings” resonates. It doesn’t feel authentic to pretend it’s ok and “polarization” is the problem when it’s lack of accountability!

I am grateful for this conversation, Design Mom, Lane and everyone leaving comments. People who may have hidden their true beliefs before the election are more willing to show their true colors now, to gaslight, to be nasty. Quotes from someone who recently became dead to me - “DEI - where you see good, I see Harm,” “Joy Ann Reid - she is the worst - gee Joy Ann, maybe people just dont agree with you, doesn’t mean they’re racist,” “Genocide, mmm, who says I call Gaza genocide.” I tried dialogue, sharing quality articles once I suspected her true colors but once all was out i realized that was futile and so was our friendship. I have to work with her from time to time, but that is temporary. She is dead to me and knows it. I am also public with mutual friends and acquaintances, I will not protect her false liberal persona. Nor anyone else. This is where their morality lies so let’s talk about it. To the fathers of women and girls who voted Trump, you are also dead to me. I will not make any of you comfortable. Do not approach me or my family, you are off limits. And so it goes. A positive fruit of this anger is that I am spurred to deepen my understanding of what it is to be an antiracist and how to live that; I am reading Race Talk by Derald Ring Sue, and Skill in Action by Michelle Cassandra Johnson. By holding people with neo fascist rhetoric accountable, I am holding myself to higher standards of accountability. I want to be more skillful and empathetic as a communicator, more impactful as a citizen; in better relationship with life in general. These conversations are very helpful. Thank you 🙏🏾
