I just think we have to stubbornly resist any and everything he and his minions say and do - in our own minds, where it all starts. I remind myself every time I hear them talking on tv that they are full of it, and they are bad people to boot. It stiffens my resolve to continue to move through all the nonsense and keep my eyes on the prize - surviving this crap period of time and getting to the good stuff - the backlash against all of this and the return of liberal views and values. Age of Aquarius got to come sometime, amirite?

Amen! I can't listen to their voices at all--I turn it off. I have to read about it bc just looking at them/listening to them is a hard pass.

Spot on!

Thanks for so well naming how our language and our thinking are inseparable.

And I love the variety of your examples.

Fantastic. Language is incredibly important. The point about not using their language or parroting it back is crucial- don’t normalize it, and don’t let it colonize and oppress our own brains. How can you have Stonewall without Marsha p Johnson? Absurd.

Great piece. I wanted to add a wrinkle regarding resisting the new language of the cleptocrats. I am a federal employee. I do not have the same freedom to opening use the language I deem more accurate, acceptable, or historically correct. This is incredibly frustrating. I’m not fond of authority and have a knee jerk need to burn this shit down from the inside. But if I want to keep my job, maintain my livelihood, and get my all or nothing 20-years-in pension I need to keep my mouth shut. It’s an impossible situation.

Oof I’m so sorry. This must be incredibly oppressive. TY for your work and this is why it’s even more important for the rest of us to resist.

Sorry just seeing this! Thank you. Everyday brings a new stressor that me and my colleagues must take to Signal to discuss, rather than making ourselves vulnerable on government systems. It sucks, and also has strengthened my various communities.

Thank you so much for sharing this here Dina. Reminds us that everyone who can speak out -- for whom nothing is at risk -- must!

Sorry just seeing this. Yes, we certainly need others to advocate and make noise on our behalf. I encourage any and all allies to do so.
