The ladder imagery is so helpful. It gives visual context to the nervous system. Also, I just learned about the 4, 3, 7 breathing during (the first) CoVid shut down and it was probably more helpful for me than my daughters. I had never dealt with clinical anxiety until CoVid, but here I am…

Initially I clicked on this post expecting to find other parents share my feelings of angst sending their kids to school. By the end of it though, I felt my heart rate slow as I read her calming, reassuring answers of reason. It was just what I needed; I might just print this to read nightly.

I became a first time parent at age 44. So much of what I read in your report resonated for me. I would have gladly joined Dr. Noor's parenting group, if it had existed 28 years ago. My first attempt at searching for some type of parent support, started out on a negative note. The coordinator of the program, upon approaching me, asked if I was the nanny. The other mothers at the Mommy and Me group were causcasians. She assumed, due to her bias, that someone with a Spanish surname and my looks, in that program, could only be a nanny. The challenges for older women and women of color, starting a family, are several, as noted in the report. I certainly can testify to that. I have been blessed though, with women I have met along the way (i.e. playground) that have provided parenting support and continue to do so. I cherish those friendships.

I am very touched by this report---by the wisdom shared and especially by the open sharing of real life parenting concerns. So much of this is relevant for grandparents like me and I will share this with my grandma support group. Thank you!
