The freedom to choose what we want for our bodies. Freedom from the threat of gun violence. Freedom to take climate action. Freedom from economic insecurity.
There are many people warning about Kamala-euphoria: that the excitement will wear off and the reality of a Black woman running for President in a racist country rooted in misogyny will wipe out the hope. Those voices aren’t wrong, but does that mean we give up?
What if we held on to our vision for freedom — despite all the barriers and lies?
Of course, Trump’s allies will violently contest the election if a Democrat wins. The New York Times reports that they plan to do everything they can to restrict voting ahead of election day and stop the process of ratifying the winner afterward, if Trump loses.
That’s why we’re partnering with Jess Kirby’s newsletter, a Common Thread, to make sure that our most fundamental freedom — the freedom for our votes to count — stays protected.
Along with Jess’s readers, we’re creating a Giving Circle with The States Project, raising funds (no amount too small!) to keep state legislatures free from right-wing takeovers.

I just love this reclaiming of the term "freedom" back to its rightful and just place!
Yes! This word got associated with a right-leaning view, and yet freedom is the call that so many people are still making! It’s time for us to bring it back!
